Coretté Byrd, M.S., R.N., joined the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) in December 2024 as a Senior Health Science Policy Analyst. Prior to joining ODS, Ms. Byrd was a Health Science Administrator in the Office of AIDS Research (OAR), where she supported a portfolio consisting of women's health, nutrition, nursing, and complementary health research. In this role, she coordinated the NIH HIV/AIDS Executive Committee; led the HIV Clinical Treatment Guidelines Program; and, in collaboration with the NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health, co-led the NIH HIV and Women Special Program to advance the NIH’s vision for women's health. Previously, Ms. Byrd served at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Bureau of Primary Health Care as a Senior Advisor for policy development, clinical initiatives, and oversight activities impacting community health centers and the people they serve. In partnership with the Chief Medical Officer, she provided clinical leadership on cross-cutting agency policies and programs.
Ms. Byrd has experience in program management; policy development; performance measurement; translating science into practical applications; and clinical nursing in urgent, critical care, and public health. She has research interests in chronic disease prevention, nutrition and dietary supplements, mental health, health disparities, and women’s health.
Currently, Ms. Byrd is pursuing her doctoral studies in Public Health, with a focus on health policy and leadership. She received her M.S. in health systems management from George Mason University, her B.S. in nursing from Georgetown University, and her B.S. in marketing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
