ODS Director's Message

ODS at NUTRITION 2024: Chicago, June 29–July 2

Stefan M. Pasiakos, Ph.D.

June 2024

Connect with me at ASN this Sunday, June 30, from 11-11:50 CT during the “Meet the Directors” event, taking place at the ASN Center in The Hub (Hall F1)

The American Society for Nutrition’s (ASN) annual meeting has always been a highlight of my year. Representing excellence in nutrition science and practice, ASN brings together global researchers, practitioners, public health leaders, policy influencers, and industry to connect and collaborate to advance the field of nutrition and dietary supplement research. This year, I have the opportunity to attend NUTRITION 2024external link disclaimer in my new role as the Director of the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS).

Aligning with the ODS commitment to advance the study of dietary supplements, this meeting is an ideal forum to further the understanding of dietary supplements in health optimization and disease prevention. There will be sessions addressing the role of dietary supplements across the lifespan, from pre-conception to healthy aging, and even in spaceflight; expanding inclusion and diversity in research; and the capacity of dietary supplements to enhance resilience.

If you attend NUTRITION 2024, you will have the opportunity to learn from some of our staff scientists. Dr. Jaime Gahche will present Exploring Multivitamin Usage Trends and Considerations in the United States. Dr. Edwina Wambogo is speaking about infant formula usage in the session Feeding the Future: Infant Feeding Practices.
