Jasmine Hayes, Ph.D., is a Health Science Administrator at the Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS). Prior to joining ODS, she was a Chemist in the Department of Clinical Investigations at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. Her passion for nutrition led to the development of several research protocols aimed at determining the effect dietary supplements have on stress, cognition, and disease states. She also served as both a Technical Scientific Consultant and the Vice President of the Scientific Review Board for William Beaumont Army Medical Center.
Prior to working for the military, Dr. Hayes taught at West Coast University in Ontario, California. She demonstrated her wide breadth of knowledge by teaching chemistry and medical ethics.
She received her B.S. in biochemistry and her Ph.D. in molecular and cellular nutritional sciences from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. During her first year in graduate school, she rotated in several labs that exposed her to various areas of science including viral, fungal, and parasitic research. However, she developed a passion for metabolic research and her doctoral research focused on how high-fat diets affect human metabolism.
