Laura Dwyer, Ph.D., is a Social and Behavioral Scientist Administrator in the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS). Her scientific interests focus on understanding how intrapersonal, interpersonal, and environmental factors contribute to health behaviors and health-related decisions. She has applied this perspective to study multiple domains, including diet, physical activity, obesity, sun safety, health communication, and health information-seeking.
Prior to joining ODS in November 2024, Dr. Dwyer worked as a Scientific Program Manager with Cape Fox Facilities Services, supporting priorities in the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Behavioral Research Program. In this role, she coordinated research activities focused on social/dyadic relationships and health, obesity-related behaviors, and analyses of behavioral science research gaps. She served on multiple scientific working groups at NCI including the Trans-NCI Obesity and Cancer Work Group and the Cognitive, Affective, and Social Processes in Health Research (CASPHR) Work Group. Dr. Dwyer also managed dissemination activities for NCI’s publicly available Family Life, Activity, Sun, Health, and Eating (FLASHE) study.
She received her Ph.D. in applied social psychology from George Washington University and her B.A. in psychology from College of the Holy Cross and completed her postdoctoral training in NCI’s Health Behaviors Research Branch.
