ODS, in partnership with the Office of Research on Women's Health, National Institute on Aging, and National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, is planning a two-day spring 2027 workshop to strengthen methodological rigor in dietary supplement research during the menopause transition. In preparation for the workshop, the ODS is hosting a series of webinars to establish the scientific, clinical, and methodological foundation for the workshop.
The webinar series aims to establish why research on dietary supplements during the menopause transition matters now. Organizers intend to contextualize dietary supplement use within the evolving scientific and clinical landscape and introduce the broad methodological challenges that will be explored in greater depth throughout the webinar series and workshop in Spring 2027. Key topics will include:
- Why the menopause transition is an important public health and research issue now.
- How menopause science and clinical care have evolved, including lessons learned from the Women's Health Initiative (WHI).
- Why dietary supplements remain widely used during the menopause transition despite uncertainties in the evidence.
- What the current dietary supplement evidence can and cannot tell us.
- Why methodological rigor is critical to advancing the next generation of research.
Each webinar will be 90 minutes long. Information about future webinars will be added as it becomes available.
